Oh yes. It comes from a story by Lord Dunsany called Poor Old Bill. About a ship's captain who endures a mutiny after he's learned tricks from the devil that let him curse his men's souls when they sleep. but he learns it from "low houses whose looks we did not like." So Low House as a corollary for the degraded state of earthly flesh. I understand that the american idiom might feel oppressive because english is so fucking EVERYWHERE but I've not been able to think about it using any other name than Low House, which usually means to me that it's the right name. and I've considered them all." A Dreamer's Tales, Poor Old Bill, par Lord Dunsany,
The new urgency from Eugene S. Robinson (Oxbow), Kasia Meow, Zoe Martinot, Gianna Greco & Francois R. Cambuzat (both Putan Club, Ifriqiyya Electrique...).
Eugene S. Robinson is of course from Oxbow and Whipping Boy. In the company of François R. Cambuzat they again created an awesome detonator. With Gianna Greco (from the transalpine upperground), Kasia Meow (from the Polish avant-rock band Maneki Nekro) and the incredible young French drummer Zoé Martinot, Low House is a blasphemy 60% female.
Baby Fire is a haunted rock band from Brussels formed around singer/guitarist Dominique Van Cappellen-Waldock. It combines the energy of post-punk with feminine sensitivity. The strings are rough, the melodies catchy, the voices enthrall.
The band's debut album was released in 2011 on Cheap Satanism Records. Special guests included Eugene S. Robinson (Oxbow) and Dana Schechter (Insect Ark, The Angels of Light…).
Their second album, The Red Robe, was recorded in the UK by former Buzzcocks member Tony Barber and released on Off Records in October 2014. It featured duets with Eve Libertine and Penny Rimbaud from Crass.
Gold, their third album, was produced by Pierre Vervloesem (dEUS, Flat Earth Society…) and released in October 2016 through Off Records. Special guests include Kevin R. Thomson (Enablers) on slide guitar and Alinovsky (ex-The Durutti Column) on keyboards.
Distribution through Broken Silence (Europe), Shellshock (UK), Cobraside (US) and P*Dis (Japan).
The band is currently working on Searching for Grace, a 4-track digital EP to be released in February 2020. They are also working on Grace, their 4th full-length album. Grace will be released when Baby Fire finds a new record label to help spread the love.
